T.J. Crawford, a writer for American Christian Observer magazine, had visited the deserts of Mali. There, he met Mohamed, a devout Muslim, who quickly jolted T.J. out of his observer status and into meeting the needs of people. The encounter forged a precarious friendship between the two.
